Maurice Marope vs Armandus Nuyts

Boxing Daily Report from the Pianim Promotions promoted show at Antwerp Moerync, Antwerp,  taking place on 15/10/2023:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Belgium-Flanders Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Sport10, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Maurice Marope (12 - 2) who hails from Ghent, Belgium and Armandus Nuyts(3 - 5 - 5) from Bruges, Belgium.  Both Marope and Nuyts weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Meus Fournyer, and the three ringside judges are Haas Haenebil, Polle Van den Broucke and Dion Reynhout.  

Round 1: 

Marope digs in a left hook to Nuyts's body.  
Marope advances into close range.  Nuyts throws a left hook, but Marope clinches his opponent.  Marope is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Marope to stop fouling.

Marope lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.

Nuyts quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Marope hits home with a left hook.  
Nuyts voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Marope tries to tag Nuyts on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
Marope advances into close range and throws a right hook, but his opponent steps away from the shot.  Marope clinches his opponent.  Nuyts leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Marope sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Marope connects with a stinging cross.  
Marope is on target with a right hook.  As Marope tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Nuyts dabs at his face checking for damage.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Nuyts.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
Nuyts is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Marope is on target with an overhand right.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Nuyts's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Nuyts's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Nuyts's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Nuyts's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.
