Oscar Hunua vs Danny Bateson

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Auckland promoted show at Auckland Corse, Auckland,  taking place on 22/11/2023:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the New Zealand Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Oscar Hunua (12(8) - 0) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Danny Bateson(7 - 1(1)) from Hamilton, New Zealand.  Both Hunua and Bateson weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Will Mellas, and the three ringside judges are Colin Lawder, Lloyd Rease and Opi Ngaikiha.

Bateson is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Hunua hits home with a sharp cross.

Bateson tries to land a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid right hook.  
Hunua steps inside and attempts to land a left hook, but Bateson blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Hunua drives a stinging left hook into Bateson's ribs.  
Hunua manages to force Bateson onto the ropes.  Hunua lands a firm right uppercut.

Hunua sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Hunua slams a mean right hook into his opponents ribcage.  DOWN GOES BATESON!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  Bateson now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Hunua advances into close range and walks Bateson onto the ropes.  Hunua lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.

Bateson sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Hunua lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Bateson recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Hunua closes the distance and lands a VICIOUS left hook.  BATESON HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.

Hunua quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and DETONATES a MASSIVE cross on his opponents face.  BATESON IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  HE MAKES IT TO ONE KNEE, BUT IS UNABLE TO RISE ANY FURTHER AS THE REF COUNTS 10!  The winner by KO is Hunua!
