Banji Barus vs Nabulung Changeywo

Boxing Daily Report from the Bos Firefighters promoted show at Kasarani indoor arena, Nairobi,  taking place on 02/12/2023:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a final eliminator for the Kenya-Nairobi Light Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Banji Barus (9 - 1) who hails from Nairobi, Kenya and Nabulung Changeywo(4 - 5 - 2) from Nairobi, Kenya.  Both Barus and Changeywo weighed in at 108 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Shaun Chelangat, and the three ringside judges are Billy Tumbo, Matt Kanyoro and Matt Kanyoro.  

Round 1: 

Barus steps inside and drives a left uppercut into his opponents ribs.  
Barus lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Barus throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the punch.  Barus holds on to his opponent.  Barus tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Changeywo's kidney. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Changeywo lands a cross.  
Barus sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Barus manages to force Changeywo into a neutral corner.  Changeywo throws a left uppercut, but Barus holds on to his opponent.  Barus is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Barus and breaks the clinch.  
Barus gets on the inside.  Changeywo leans back on the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Barus tries to tag Changeywo on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  Barus drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Barus lands a left hook, right hook and a left hook to his opponents body.  
Barus is on target with a right hook.  Barus holds on to his opponent.  Barus leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Barus's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Changeywo tries to keep the action at long range.  Barus connects with an overhand left.  
Barus advances into close range and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.

Barus advances into close range.  Barus quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and digs in a left hook to his opponents body.

Barus lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Changeywo's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Changeywo's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Changeywo's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Changeywo steps to the outside.  Barus lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.

Barus tries to land a left hook, but Changeywo blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut to Barus's ribcage.
