Ellis Sibanda vs Phornello Mhlanga

Boxing Daily Report from the Harare Boxing Club promoted show at Mbare Netball Complex, Harare,  taking place on 21/11/2023:

Clearly Harare Boxing Club have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Ellis Sibanda (0 - 0) who hails from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and Phornello Mhlanga(0 - 2) from Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe.  Both Sibanda and Mhlanga weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jack Feamster, and the three ringside judges are Jack Feamster, Ian Mataz and Edward Chung.  

Round 1: 

Sibanda lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Sibanda clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Sibanda pushes his forearm into Mhlanga's face.  The referee warns Sibanda and breaks the clinch.  
Sibanda sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Sibanda pivots to the side of his opponent and drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Mhlanga steps to the outside and throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mhlanga lands a cross.  
Mhlanga throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook to Mhlanga's body.  
Sibanda steps inside and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents head.  
Sibanda digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Sibanda advances into close range and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Sibanda manages to force Mhlanga onto the ropes.  Sibanda drives a sharp left hook into his opponents body.  Sibanda ties up his opponent.  Sibanda leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mhlanga throws a right hook, but Sibanda ties up his opponent.  Sibanda leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Sibanda's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Sibanda cuts off the ring, trapping Mhlanga on the ropes.  Sibanda lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mhlanga's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Mhlanga's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
