Mark Higgins vs Michael Jakubiak

Boxing Daily Report from the Smoking Joe promoted show at Smoking Gym, Los Angeles,  taking place on 10/01/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Mark Higgins (1 - 0) who hails from Syracuse, USA and Michael Jakubiak(4 - 1) from Joliet, USA.  Both Higgins and Jakubiak weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Adam Moreno, and the three ringside judges are Oliver Craddock, Dave Carrasco and Dylan Waddell.  

Round 1: 

Higgins digs in a right hook to Jakubiak's ribs.  
Jakubiak switches the action to the outside.  Higgins feints a jab, fooling Jakubiak into throwing a cross counter.  Higgins springs the trap and counters with  a cross.  
Higgins lands a left hook.  
Higgins steps inside and lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Higgins lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Higgins gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Higgins advances into close range and lands a right hook.  
Higgins cuts off the ring, trapping Jakubiak in the corner.  Higgins lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Higgins lands a right uppercut to the head, a right hook to the body and a left uppercut to the head.  
Higgins throws a right uppercut, but his opponent avoids the shot.  Higgins ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Higgins pushes his forearm into Jakubiak's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Higgins.  
Higgins is on target with a left uppercut to Jakubiak's body.  
Jakubiak sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Higgins lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Higgins steps inside and digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Jakubiak's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Jakubiak's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Higgins advances into close range and connects with a sharp right hook.  
Higgins steps inside and is on target with a right uppercut to Jakubiak's body.  
Higgins closes the distance and lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Higgins attempts to land a right hook, but Jakubiak sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut to his opponents body.

Higgins forces Jakubiak to retreat into the corner.  Higgins feints a jab, and then lands two straights to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Higgins is on target with a right hook to Jakubiak's body.  
Jakubiak pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a left uppercut.  
Higgins lands a left hook.
