Rob Dougal vs Leo Hamel

Boxing Daily Report from the Mandale Boxing Promotions promoted show at Melbourne Howey, Melbourne,  taking place on 02/01/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Rob Dougal (1 - 0) who hails from Sydney, Australia and Leo Hamel(1 - 1) from Perth, Australia.  Dougal weighed in at 140 pounds, while Hamel weighed in at 139 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is James Tarbert, and the three ringside judges are Alastair MacIntyre, Mark Stein and Stephen MacDougall.  

Round 1: 

Dougal steps inside and lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Dougal closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.

Hamel tries to step out of his opponents range and strikes his opponents body with a cross.

Dougal lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Dougal clinches his opponent.  Dougal pushes his forearm into Hamel's face.  The ref breaks Dougal's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Dougal throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Dougal holds on to his opponent.  Dougal leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Hamel hits home with a left uppercut.  
Dougal steps inside.  Dougal lands a solid right hook.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Dougal dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Dougal throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Dougal clinches his opponent.  Dougal is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Dougal.  
Dougal connects with a left uppercut.  
Dougal walks Hamel down, trapping him in a corner.  Dougal hits home with a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Hamel's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Hamel's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Hamel's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Hamel tries to step out of his opponents range.  Dougal lands an overhand right.  
Hamel throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Dougal gets on the inside and is on target with a solid right uppercut.  Dougal attempts to land a left uppercut, but Hamel slips the shot and counters with a left hook to Dougal's body.  
Dougal gets on the inside.  Dougal quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Hamel throws a right hook, but Dougal holds on to his opponent.  Dougal leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Dougal lands a right hook.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Hamel.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
