Kyle Kinion vs Montego Grego

Boxing Daily Report from the Bos Firefighters promoted show at Hale Arena, Kansas City,  taking place on 10/02/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Kyle Kinion (14(11) - 1) who hails from Ottawa, Canada and Montego Grego(7 - 5 - 1) from Bogota, Colombia.  Both Kinion and Grego weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Phil Ekberg, and the three ringside judges are Antwan Dougherty, Gethin Rodgers and Callum Johansen.  

Round 1: 

Kinion closes the distance.  Grego throws a right hook, but Kinion ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Grego pushes his forearm into Kinion's face.  The referee warns Grego and breaks the clinch.  
Kinion lands a left hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.  
Kinion lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Kinion steps inside and lands a left hook followed by  two left uppercuts to his opponents body.  
Kinion advances into close range and is on target with a right hook.  
Kinion pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Kinion drives a left uppercut into Grego's body.  
Kinion lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents body.  
Kinion drives a firm left hook into Grego's body.  Kinion clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Kinion pushes his forearm into Grego's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Kinion about fouling.  
Grego steps inside.  Kinion lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  Kinion holds on to his opponent.  Kinion leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Kinion's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Kinion lands a left uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Kinion is on target with a stinging left hook to Grego's body.  
Kinion advances into close range.  Kinion sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Grego throws a left hook, but Kinion ties up his opponent.  Kinion leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Kinion tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Grego behind the head. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Kinion to stop fouling.  
Kinion drives a stinging left uppercut into his opponents ribs.  
Kinion closes the distance and forces Grego to back into the corner.  Kinion lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Grego throws a left hook, but Kinion clinches his opponent.  Kinion uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Grego behind the head. 
Kinion throws a left uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot.  Kinion holds on to his opponent.  Kinion leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Kinion is looking to close the distance and is on target with a firm left hook to Grego's liver.  Kinion holds on to his opponent.  Grego leans on his opponent using all his weight. Kinion tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Grego behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Kinion.  
Kinion lands a left hook to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
Kinion gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Kinion drives a stinging right uppercut into Grego's body.  
Kinion digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Grego's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Grego's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Grego's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Kinion sidesteps to the left of his opponent and digs in a solid right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Kinion connects with a stinging left hook.  
Kinion is looking to close the distance and is on target with a solid right hook to Grego's body.  
Kinion closes the distance.  Grego attempts to land a left hook, but Kinion sidesteps and counters with a stinging right hook.  
Kinion lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Kinion lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Kinion lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Grego closes the distance.  Kinion sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a left hook to Grego's liver.  
Kinion drives a left uppercut into his opponents ribs.  
Grego closes the distance and forces Kinion to retreat onto the ropes.  Kinion drives a solid right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Kinion digs in a firm left hook to his opponents body.  
Kinion lands two right uppercut's to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Kinion walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Kinion drives a stinging right hook into his opponents body.  
Kinion sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Kinion lands a left hook, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  Kinion clinches his opponent.  Kinion leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Kinion lands a left uppercut, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Kinion is looking to close the distance and digs in a powerful left uppercut to Grego's body.  GREGO IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 6.  
Kinion lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Kinion lands a left hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Grego almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Kinion is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  
Kinion hits home with a cross.  
Kinion whips in a big left hook to his opponents body.  IT LOOKS LIKE GREGO WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Some sustained pressure from Kinion could be enough to finish Grego!  Kinion lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body, AND DROPS GREGO TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  It looks like Grego has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.

Kinion whips in a spiteful right hook to Grego's ribs.  IT LOOKS LIKE GREGO WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!

Kinion lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Kinion lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents ribs.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Kinion is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Kinion crashes a hurtful left hook to Grego's ribs.  GREGO HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 8.  
It looks like Grego has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Kinion lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Grego almost instantly recovers.

Kinion senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Kinion lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head, KNOCKING GREGO DOWN!  He tries to rise on shaky legs but Grego cant beat the count!  The winner by KO is Kinion!
