George Patera vs Barry Baird

Boxing Daily Report from the Bos Firefighters promoted show at Marquette Gymnasium, Milwaukee,  taking place on 30/12/2023:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are George Patera (1 - 0) who hails from Piraeus, Greece and Barry Baird(0 - 0 - 1) from Los Angeles, USA.  Patera weighed in at 140 pounds, while Baird weighed in at 139 pounds And 15 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Richard Cavanagh, and the three ringside judges are Sid MacLaine, Richard Cavanagh and Theo Gwenn.  

Round 1: 

Baird steps inside.  Patera connects with a right hook.  
Patera feints a left hook, and then lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Patera lands a jab to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
Baird advances into close range.  Patera lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Baird advances into close range and walks his opponent into a corner.  Patera drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Patera voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Baird tries to tag Patera on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
Patera is looking to keep the action on the outside and hits home with a cross.  
Patera is on target with a jab.  
Patera is looking to keep his distance and lands two straights followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Baird advances into close range and throws a left uppercut, but Patera clinches his opponent.  Patera leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Patera tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a jab to the body, a jab to the head and a cross to the head.  
Baird is on target with a right hook.  
Patera is on target with a cross.  Patera tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Baird's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Baird's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.

Baird steps inside.  Patera lands a right hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Patera switches the action to the outside and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Patera lands a right hook.  
Patera lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Patera lands with a solid jab.  
Patera lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Patera lands a jab.  
Baird is looking to close the distance.  Patera lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents head.  
Patera hits home with a right uppercut.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Baird dabs at his face checking for damage.  Baird has been damaged by that accidental headbutt.  That has caused minor damage to the nose.  
Baird is looking to close the distance and throws a left hook, but Patera holds on to his opponent.  Patera pushes his forearm into Baird's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Patera.  
Baird closes the distance.  Patera drives a right hook into Baird's body.  
Patera finds the target with a jab.  
Baird gets on the inside.  Patera lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  Patera ties up his opponent.  Patera leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Patera switches the action to the outside and connects with an overhand right.  
Patera lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Patera is on target with a jab to his opponents body.  
Baird gets on the inside.  Baird pivots from in front of his opponent.  Patera lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Patera steps away from his opponent and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Baird is looking to close the distance.  Baird sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Patera lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.
