Montraie Shongwe vs Ollie Mapisa

Boxing Daily Report from the AI South Africa-Gauteng promoted show at Pretoria Mulder, Pretoria,  taking place on 31/01/2024:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the South Africa-Gauteng Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Montraie Shongwe (8 - 5 - 1) who hails from Mamelodi, South Africa and Ollie Mapisa(7 - 4 - 3) from Randburg, South Africa.  Both Shongwe and Mapisa weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Luvolwethu Khumalo, and the three ringside judges are Charel Cilliers, Peter Mbalula and Mark Van Jaarsveld.  

Round 1: 

Mapisa tries to land a jab, but Shongwe slips the shot and counters with a cross.

Shongwe steps inside.  Mapisa throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref ignores Shongwe's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Shongwe closes the distance.  Mapisa pivots to the right of his opponent andAs the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Mapisa dabs at his face checking for damage.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Mapisa.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
Shongwe quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and connects with a right hook.
