Ollie Maddox vs John Rowan

Boxing Daily Report from the Smoking Joe promoted show at Bakersfield Tilford, Bakersfield,  taking place on 28/02/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Ollie Maddox (1 - 0) who hails from San Bernardino, USA and John Rowan(2 - 7 - 4 - 1(NC)) from Salt Lake City, USA.  Both Maddox and Rowan weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ricky Kinnon, and the three ringside judges are John Torrance, Michael Pride and Dillon Ireland.  

Round 1: 

Maddox pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a cross.  
Rowan is looking to keep the action on the outside and throws an overhand left, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm right hook.  
Maddox gets on the inside and drives a left hook into Rowan's body.  Maddox attempts to land a right uppercut, but Rowan blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Maddox feints a right hook, and then hits home with a left hook.  
Maddox lands a solid cross.  
Maddox is looking to close the distance and connects with a left uppercut.  
Maddox lands a cross to the head followed by a jab to the body.  
Maddox is looking to close the distance.  Maddox pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Maddox lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rowan's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Rowan's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Rowan's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Rowan is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Maddox lands a sharp cross.  
Maddox gets on the inside and is on target with a right hook.  
Maddox advances into close range.  Rowan quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Maddox is on target with a solid left hook.  
Rowan pivots from in front of his opponent and strikes his opponents body with a cross.
