Joaquin Covarrubias vs Pedro Piedrahita

Boxing Daily Report from the Mr. Vicious promoted show at National Basket Ball Arena, Dublin,  taking place on 23/02/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Joaquin Covarrubias (2 - 0) who hails from Santo Domingo de Guzman, Dominican Republic and Pedro Piedrahita(6 - 7 - 1) from Guatemala City, Guatemala.  Both Covarrubias and Piedrahita weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Gareth Byrne, and the three ringside judges are Jason Orman, Eoghan Markey and Nathan Fitzgerald.

Covarrubias feints a right, and then hits the target with a stiff jab.  
Piedrahita cuts off the ring, trapping Covarrubias in a neutral corner.  Covarrubias lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.

Covarrubias quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and is on target with a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Covarrubias gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
Covarrubias lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  Covarrubias wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Piedrahita.  That has caused a minor cut in the corner of the right eye.  .
