Aaron Higgins vs Gethin McCalmon

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Frank Gym, Manchester,  taking place on 26/01/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Aaron Higgins (4 - 0) who hails from London, UK and Gethin McCalmon(1 - 6 - 3) from London, UK.  Both Higgins and McCalmon weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John McQuay, and the three ringside judges are Bart McPhee, Mark Bonnar and Owen Saunders.  

Round 1: 

McCalmon steps inside.  Higgins lands a right hook.  
McCalmon is looking to close the distance.  Higgins lands a left uppercut followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
Higgins is looking to close the distance and forces McCalmon to back into the corner.  Higgins lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Higgins steps inside and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Higgins drives a right uppercut into McCalmon's body.

Higgins sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Higgins throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.
