Leon Wayne vs Yo Qiu

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Frank Gym, Manchester,  taking place on 26/01/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Leon Wayne (7 - 0 - 2) who hails from Oxford, UK and Yo Qiu(1 - 0) from Shiraz, Iran.  Wayne weighed in at 153 pounds and 12 ounces, while Qiu weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Mark Bonnar, and the three ringside judges are Bart McPhee, John McQuay and Owen Saunders.  

Round 1: 

Wayne closes the distance and drives a left uppercut into Qiu's liver.  
Qiu lands a left hook.  
Qiu gets on the inside and lands a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Wayne's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Qiu's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Qiu connects with a cross.

Wayne closes the distance.  Wayne throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action and gives Qiu time to recover.  
Wayne is looking to close the distance and throws a right hook, but misses the target.  Wayne holds on to his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Qiu cuts off the ring, trapping Wayne in the corner.  Wayne is on target with a left hook.  
Wayne connects with a left uppercut.

Wayne sidesteps to the right of his opponent and digs in a left hook to his opponents body.

Wayne walks his opponent down, trapping him in a neutral corner.  Wayne throws a left hook, but is off-target.  Wayne clinches his opponent.  Qiu pushes his forearm into Wayne's face.  The referee warns Qiu and breaks the clinch.  
Qiu pivots to the side of his opponent.  Wayne throws a right hook, but is off-target.  Wayne clinches his opponent.  Qiu uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Wayne's kidney. 
Qiu throws a right hook, but Wayne clinches his opponent.  Qiu leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Wayne lands a right hook.
