Oringo Kalusa vs Verlyn Mizinga

Boxing Daily Report from the Donnelly Boxing promoted show at Trory Mwagomba Gym, Kitwe,  taking place on 16/02/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Oringo Kalusa (2 - 0) who hails from Lusaka, Zambia and Verlyn Mizinga(3 - 1) from Lusaka, Zambia.  Both Kalusa and Mizinga weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Phornello Hamabilo, and the three ringside judges are Kwau Kozlowiecki, Faraji Jobe and Tavarius Kasanka.  

Round 1: 

Mizinga gets on the inside.  Kalusa is on target with a right uppercut to Mizinga's body.

Kalusa steps away from his opponent.  Kalusa feints a jab, tricking Mizinga into throwing a cross counter.  Kalusa avoids the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Mizinga closes the distance.  Kalusa lands a left hook.  
Mizinga forces Kalusa to back into the ropes.  Kalusa lands a cross to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Kalusa lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Kalusa steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand left.  
Mizinga advances into close range and attempts to land a right uppercut, but Kalusa slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents body.

Mizinga is looking to close the distance and walks Kalusa onto the ropes.  Kalusa lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  Kalusa ties up his opponent.  Mizinga tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Kalusa behind the head.

Kalusa quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Mizinga tries to land a right hook, but Kalusa slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mizinga advances into close range.  Kalusa sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Kalusa throws a left hook, but misses the target.  Kalusa ties up his opponent.  Kalusa uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Mizinga's kidney. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Kalusa.  
Kalusa steps away from his opponent.  Kalusa quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Kalusa lands a cross.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mizinga's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Mizinga's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Mizinga is looking to close the distance and lands a right uppercut.  Kalusa clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Kalusa pushes his forearm into Mizinga's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Mizinga manouvers Kalusa into the corner.  Mizinga attempts to land a right hook, but Kalusa parries the shot and counters with a right hook.
