Boxing Daily Report from the Mandale Boxing Promotions promoted show at Chris Power Gym, Melbourne,  taking place on 28/02/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are James Swinton (1(1) - 0) who hails from Melbourne, Australia and Michael McSherry(1 - 2) from Melbourne, Australia.  Both Swinton and McSherry weighed in at 175 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Leighton McPherson, and the three ringside judges are Jake Denniston, Alastair Mun and Stephen MacDougall.  

Round 1: 

Swinton closes the distance.  McSherry pivots from in front of his opponent.  Swinton lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Swinton lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Swinton steps inside and lands a left hook.  
Swinton quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Swinton lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Swinton is looking to close the distance and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Swinton holds on to his opponent.  Swinton leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. As they grapple, Swinton pushes his forearm into McSherry's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Swinton lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
McSherry attempts to land a right hook, but Swinton slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Swinton throws a right uppercut, but the shot is blocked.  Swinton holds on to his opponent.  Swinton uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits McSherry behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Swinton.  
Swinton attempts to land a left uppercut, but McSherry parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Swinton lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Swinton digs in a left hook to McSherry's liver.  
Swinton is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Swinton lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Swinton drives a sharp right hook into McSherry's ribcage.  
Swinton is on target with a right hook.  
Swinton is looking to close the distance and lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  Swinton clinches his opponent.  Swinton leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Swinton's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
McSherry throws a left hook, but Swinton clinches his opponent.  Swinton leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Swinton lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McSherry's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  McSherry's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
