Theo Cadigan vs Billy McAree

Boxing Daily Report from the Mandale Boxing Promotions promoted show at Chris Power Gym, Melbourne,  taking place on 28/02/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Theo Cadigan (1 - 0) who hails from Manukau, New Zealand and Billy McAree(1 - 4) from Canberra, Australia.  Both Cadigan and McAree weighed in at 108 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jake Denniston, and the three ringside judges are Alastair Mun, Leighton McPherson and Stephen MacDougall.  

Round 1: 

Cadigan steps inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Cadigan digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Cadigan is looking to close the distance and drives a right uppercut into McAree's ribcage.  
McAree tries to land a cross, but Cadigan blocks the shot and counters with a sharp left hook.

McAree closes the distance.  Cadigan hits home with a left hook.  
Cadigan lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
McAree drops his hands, and waves his opponent in.  Cadigan connects with a firm cross.

Cadigan pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Cadigan attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores McAree's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Cadigan gets on the inside and digs in a solid right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Cadigan advances into close range and digs in a left hook to his opponents ribs.

McAree gets on the inside.  Cadigan lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Cadigan closes the distance and tries to land a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Cadigan is on target with a left hook to McAree's body.  
McAree digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
Cadigan gets on the inside.  As McAree tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Cadigan dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Cadigan lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McAree's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  McAree's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.
