Vashon Magqwaka vs Kabonero Sotyu

Boxing Daily Report from the African Fusion promoted show at African Gym, Johannesburg,  taking place on 24/03/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Vashon Magqwaka (3 - 1) who hails from Soweto, South Africa and Kabonero Sotyu(4 - 3 - 3) from Soweto, South Africa.  Magqwaka weighed in at 134 pounds and 8 ounces, while Sotyu weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is David Khumalo, and the three ringside judges are Arali Kessels, Colin Ntambwe and Vince Van Deventer.  

Round 1: 

Magqwaka closes the distance and is on target with a left hook.  
Magqwaka lands a cross followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Magqwaka throws a right hook, but his opponent avoids the punch with a sidestep.  Magqwaka ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Magqwaka pushes his forearm into Sotyu's face.  The ref breaks Magqwaka's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Magqwaka advances into close range.  Sotyu quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Magqwaka lands two consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents head.  Magqwaka ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Magqwaka pushes his forearm into Sotyu's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Magqwaka.  
Magqwaka walks Sotyu into the blue corner.  Magqwaka drives a firm right hook into his opponents body.  
Magqwaka connects with a stinging right hook.  
Magqwaka lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Magqwaka hits home with a stinging right hook.  
Magqwaka gets on the inside and throws a left uppercut, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Magqwaka holds on to his opponent.  Sotyu is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Magqwaka lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Sotyu throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Magqwaka hits home with a firm left hook.  
Magqwaka lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Magqwaka lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Sotyu throws a left hook, but Magqwaka holds on to his opponent.  Sotyu is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Sotyu to stop fouling.  
Magqwaka lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Sotyu's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Sotyu's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Magqwaka advances into close range.  Magqwaka pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Magqwaka tries to land a left hook, but Sotyu slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Sotyu lands a left hook.  
Sotyu throws a left uppercut, but Magqwaka holds on to his opponent.  Magqwaka leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Magqwaka uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Sotyu's kidney. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Magqwaka lands a right hook.  
Magqwaka lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Magqwaka quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and connects with a left hook.  
Magqwaka lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.
