Yasushi Asai vs Isamu Handa

Boxing Daily Report from the Ekstein Promotions promoted show at Kitakyushu Kobayashi, Kitakyushu,  taking place on 23/03/2024:

Clearly Ekstein Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Yasushi Asai (5 - 0) who hails from Nagoya, Japan and Isamu Handa(3 - 6) from Kitakyushu, Japan.  Both Asai and Handa weighed in at 115 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Yoshi Ogura, and the three ringside judges are Takeshi Murayama, Ryo Hora and Daichi Okabe.  

Round 1: 

Asai steps inside.  Asai pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Asai pivots to the left of his opponent and digs in a left hook to Handa's body.  
Asai lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Handa is looking to close the distance.  Asai lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Asai sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.  
Handa advances into close range.  Asai pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Asai pivots to the side of his opponent and digs in a left hook to Handa's body.  
Handa manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Asai lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Asai lands a right hook.  
Asai hits home with a right uppercut.  
Asai gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Handa connects with a left uppercut.  
Handa steps inside.  Asai drives a left hook into Handa's body.  
Asai hits home with a left hook.  
Asai throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Asai voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Handa steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  
Asai lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Handa's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Handa's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Handa throws a left uppercut, but Asai ties up his opponent.  Handa leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Asai is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Asai lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Asai steps inside.  Handa throws a right hook, but Asai ties up his opponent.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Handa gets on the inside.  Asai hits home with a left hook.

Asai gets on the inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.

Asai steps inside and lands two consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Asai lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Asai clinches his opponent.  Asai is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Handa sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  
Asai lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Asai lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
Handa throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook to Handa's liver.

Frustration is starting to boil over for Handa now.   He swings an uppercut into his opponents groin! The ref doesnt appear to have noticed the foul and signals for the action to continue.

Handa is starting to lose his temper here.   He turns Asai and throws an uppercut into his opponents groin area!  The ref tells Handa to keep his punches above the belt.  He gives Asai time to recover.  
Frustration is starting to boil over for Handa now.   He throws a low uppercut...that landed well below the belt! The ref signals for the action to continue.  He either hasnt noticed the blatant foul or doesnt care! 
Handa connects with a cross.  
Asai attempts to land a cross, but Handa slips the shot and counters with a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
At the end of Round 5, lets listen in on the corners...Handa's trainer is telling his fighter to go out and knock out his opponent!  Handa's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.
