Amon Blain vs Robert Doyle

Boxing Daily Report from the JSW promoted show at Geelong Arena, Geelong,  taking place on 06/05/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on WIN, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Amon Blain (3 - 0) who hails from Sydney, Australia and Robert Doyle(4 - 3 - 1) from Brisbane, Australia.  Blain weighed in at 154 pounds, while Doyle weighed in at 152 pounds and 14 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Alec Saghatelian, and the three ringside judges are Mark Givan, James Christou and Euan Kier.

Blain manouvers Doyle into a corner.  Doyle throws a right hook, but Blain clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Blain pushes his forearm into Doyle's face.  The referee warns Blain and breaks the clinch.  
Blain hits home with a left uppercut.  
Blain hits home with a right hook.  
Blain lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Blain is on target with a right hook to Doyle's body.  
Blain feints a jab and triggers a cross counter from Doyle.  Blain springs the trap and counters with  a cross.  
Blain steps inside.  Blain pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Blain is looking to close the distance.  Doyle throws a left hook, but Blain clinches his opponent.  Blain uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Doyle behind the head. The referee warns Blain and breaks the clinch.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Doyle's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Doyle's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Doyle.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
