Lee Jernigan vs Joshua McCrory

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Royal Dublin Society, Dublin,  taking place on 23/05/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Setanta Sports, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Lee Jernigan (3 - 0) who hails from London, UK and Joshua McCrory(4 - 1 - 1) from Dun Laoghaire, Ireland.  Jernigan weighed in at 146 pounds and 10 ounces, while McCrory weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Brett Rabbitt, and the three ringside judges are Mark McClellan, Michael Sloan and Leeroy MacEwan.  

Round 1: 

McCrory tries to step out of his opponents range.  Jernigan hits home with a cross.  
Jernigan advances into close range.  McCrory throws a left hook, but Jernigan clinches his opponent.  Jernigan leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Jernigan lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Jernigan is looking to close the distance and drives a left hook into his opponents liver.  
Jernigan gets on the inside and digs in a right hook to McCrory's body.  
Jernigan drives a right hook into McCrory's body.  Jernigan holds on to his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
McCrory throws a left hook, but Jernigan holds on to his opponent.  Jernigan pushes his forearm into McCrory's face.  The referee warns Jernigan and breaks the clinch.

Jernigan closes the distance and throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.

Jernigan pivots to the side of his opponent and lands two right hook's to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Jernigan manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Jernigan lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Jernigan lands a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McCrory's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  McCrory's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  McCrory's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
