Alastair McAlpin vs James Maguire

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at First Direct Arena, Leeds,  taking place on 01/06/2024:

Clearly Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight is the British Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Sky Sports, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Alastair McAlpin (8(4) - 0) who hails from Preston, UK and James Maguire(10(2) - 0) from Bradford, UK.  McAlpin weighed in at 129 pounds and 8 ounces, while Maguire weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Henry Paterson, and the three ringside judges are Ronald McAlinden, Daniel McPhillips and Chris Murphy.  

Round 1: 

McAlpin lands a cross.  
Maguire lands with a stinging jab.  
Maguire quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  McAlpin lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.

McAlpin closes the distance and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
McAlpin lands three consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Maguire is on target with a jab.  
McAlpin throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
McAlpin manouvers Maguire onto the ropes.  McAlpin lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Maguire digs in a stinging left hook to McAlpin's body.  
McAlpin steps to the outside and is on target with a stinging cross.  
Maguire pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a solid jab.

McAlpin is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks McAlpin's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  Maguire recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
McAlpin steps to the outside.  Maguire is on target with a jab.

McAlpin lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
McAlpin lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.
