Brian McAffee vs Ian McCalla

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Frank Gym, Manchester,  taking place on 24/04/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Brian McAffee (6(1) - 0) who hails from Northampton, UK and Ian McCalla(0 - 0) from London, UK.  McAffee weighed in at 146 pounds and 10 ounces, while McCalla weighed in at 146 pounds and 7 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Rob Law, and the three ringside judges are Mark Collins, Euan Culbertson and Wayne Atcheson.  

Round 1: 

McAffee lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
McAffee lands a left hook.  
McCalla steps away from his opponent and throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
McCalla throws an overhand left, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
McCalla attempts to land a cross, but McAffee blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
McCalla pivots to the left of his opponent.  McAffee lands a right uppercut to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  McAffee ties up his opponent.  McAffee is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns McAffee and breaks the clinch.  
McAffee is on target with a cross.  
McCalla cuts off the ring, trapping McAffee on the ropes.  McCalla pivots to the side of his opponent.  McAffee digs in a solid left hook to his opponents body.  
McAffee gets on the inside and throws a right hook, but the shot is blocked.  McAffee ties up his opponent.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
McAffee is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
McAffee manages to force McCalla into a neutral corner.  McAffee lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
McAffee connects with a right hook.  
McAffee lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
McAffee lands a right hook.  
McAffee advances into close range and drives a left hook into McCalla's ribs.  McAffee clinches his opponent.  McAffee tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits McCalla behind the head. 
McAffee drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
McCalla throws a jab, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a cross.  
McAffee is looking to close the distance and is on target with a right hook to McCalla's body.  
McCalla throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McCalla's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Round 2: 

McAffee sidesteps to the left of his opponent and drives a solid left hook into his opponents liver.  
McAffee walks McCalla down, trapping him on the ropes.  McAffee quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and drives a solid right hook into McCalla's ribcage.  
McAffee lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
McAffee is on target with a sharp right uppercut to his opponents body.  McAffee holds on to his opponent.  McAffee leans on his opponent using all his weight. McAffee tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits McCalla's kidney. 
McAffee lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
McAffee digs in a solid left hook to his opponents body.  McAffee wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as McCalla dabs at his face checking for damage.  
McAffee lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
McCalla is looking to keep his distance.  McCalla sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  McCalla throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
McAffee sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a cross.  
McAffee advances into close range and is on target with a right hook to McCalla's body.  
McAffee throws a right uppercut, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a cross.  
McAffee cuts off the ring, trapping McCalla in a corner.  McAffee drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  McAffee attempts to land a right uppercut, but McCalla blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
McAffee connects with a right uppercut.  
McAffee gets on the inside and manages to force McCalla into a corner.  McAffee pivots to the left of his opponent and drives a left uppercut into his opponents liver.  
McAffee lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  McAffee clinches his opponent.  McAffee is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
McAffee throws a right hook, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  McAffee clinches his opponent.  McAffee pushes his forearm into McCalla's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns McAffee.  
McAffee lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs, AND SENDS MCCALLA SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  
McAffee hits home with a right hook.  
It looks like McCalla has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...McCalla's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  McCalla's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

McAffee steps inside and drives a left hook into McCalla's body.  
McAffee drives a stinging left uppercut into McCalla's ribs.  
McAffee walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  McAffee is on target with a right uppercut to McCalla's body.  
McAffee steps inside and throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the shot.  McAffee ties up his opponent.  McAffee leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
McAffee manages to force McCalla into the blue corner.  McAffee drives a firm left hook into McCalla's ribs.  
McAffee lands two left hook's to the body followed by a right hook to the head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  McCalla quickly recovers. 
McAffee forces McCalla to retreat into the blue corner.  McAffee lands a right hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body, AND DOWN GOES MCCALLA!  He is back up on his feet at 9.  
McCalla could be stopped here, if McAffee can find the right shot!  McAffee lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body, AND SENDS MCCALLA SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 4.  
McAffee lands consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents body, AND DOWN GOES MCCALLA!  The ref waves off the fight.  He does not believe McCalla can continue!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is McAffee!
