Montraie Shongwe vs Ollie Mapisa

Boxing Daily Report from the AI South Africa-Gauteng promoted show at Pretoria Mahlangu, Pretoria,  taking place on 10/05/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the South Africa-Gauteng Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Montraie Shongwe (8 - 5 - 2) who hails from Mamelodi, South Africa and Ollie Mapisa(7 - 4 - 4) from Randburg, South Africa.  Both Shongwe and Mapisa weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is David Pienaar, and the three ringside judges are William Ekstein, Xhosas Kwadwo and Quaashie Duncan.  

Round 1: 

Mapisa gets on the inside.  Shongwe sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Shongwe hits home with a right hook.  Shongwe throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Mapisa walks Shongwe down, trapping him in a corner.  Mapisa pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a right hook.  
Mapisa closes the distance.  Shongwe connects with a right uppercut.  
Mapisa steps away from his opponent and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Mapisa gets on the inside and is on target with a right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.

Mapisa gets on the inside.  Mapisa quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Mapisa throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Mapisa tries to step out of his opponents range and hits home with an overhand right.  
Shongwe steps away from his opponent and lands a jab.  
Mapisa sidesteps to the left of his opponent and digs in a right hook to Shongwe's body.  
Shongwe finds the target with a jab.
