Harry Lurie vs John McDermott

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Frank Gym, Manchester,  taking place on 24/04/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Harry Lurie (2 - 0) who hails from Sunderland, UK and John McDermott(1 - 1 - 1) from Edinburgh, UK.  Both Lurie and McDermott weighed in at 108 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Euan Culbertson, and the three ringside judges are Mark Collins, Rob Law and Wayne Atcheson.  

Round 1: 

McDermott closes the distance.  Lurie pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Lurie lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Lurie lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  Lurie clinches his opponent.  Lurie is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. McDermott uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Lurie's kidney. The ref breaks Lurie's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Lurie advances into close range and lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
McDermott throws a right hook, but Lurie ties up his opponent.  Lurie pushes his forearm into McDermott's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Lurie.  
Lurie lands a left hook, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Lurie digs in a left hook to McDermott's liver.  
Lurie lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
McDermott gets on the inside.  Lurie connects with a right hook.  Lurie clinches his opponent.  Lurie leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Lurie lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McDermott's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  McDermott's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

McDermott advances into close range and forces Lurie to retreat into the blue corner.  Lurie is on target with a right hook.  Lurie ties up his opponent.  McDermott uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Lurie behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures McDermott about fouling.  
Lurie steps inside and lands a right hook.  
Lurie closes the distance.  McDermott is on target with a left hook.  
Lurie lands a solid left hook.  
Lurie hits home with a cross.  
Lurie connects with a left hook.  
Lurie lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Lurie sidesteps to the right of his opponent and connects with a left hook.  
Lurie is looking to close the distance.  Lurie sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a stinging right uppercut.  
Lurie pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head, a left uppercut to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
Lurie advances into close range.  Lurie throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends McDermott to the neutral corner.  He tells Lurie he will lose a point if he continues to foul.  
Lurie cuts off the ring, trapping McDermott in a corner.  Lurie lands a right uppercut.  
Lurie drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Lurie manages to force McDermott into a corner.  Lurie hits home with a firm right uppercut.  
Lurie manages to force McDermott onto the ropes.  Lurie lands a right hook.  
McDermott drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
At the end of Round 3, lets listen in on the corners...McDermott's trainer is telling his fighter he must go to war on his opponent!
