Charles Mears vs Oscar Hill

Boxing Daily Report from the AI UK-Southern England promoted show at Max Lawgoch Gym, London,  taking place on 10/05/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Charles Mears (1 - 0) who hails from Coventry, UK and Oscar Hill(0 - 4 - 3) from Sunderland, UK.  Both Mears and Hill weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Craig Hughes, and the three ringside judges are Bruce Milne, Chris Hyndman and Lee McAlinden.  

Round 1: 

Mears steps inside and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Mears lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  Mears holds on to his opponent.  Mears leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Mears hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The referee warns Mears and breaks the clinch.  
Mears lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  Mears clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Mears pushes his forearm into Hill's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Mears.  
Mears drives a right hook into Hill's body.  
Mears advances into close range and is on target with a right hook.  
Mears strikes his opponents body with a solid cross.  
Mears advances into close range and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  Mears clinches his opponent.  Mears leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mears feints a cross, and then lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Hill is looking to close the distance and throws a left hook, but Mears ties up his opponent.  Mears leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Mears's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Mears is on target with a right hook.  
Mears lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Mears clinches his opponent.  Mears tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Hill behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Mears about fouling.  
Mears steps inside and connects with a left hook.  
Mears cuts off the ring, trapping Hill in the corner.  Mears lands a left hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.  Mears clinches his opponent.  Mears leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Hill gets on the inside.  Mears sidesteps to the left of his opponent andAs the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Mears.  That has caused swelling  around the right eye.  
Mears lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Mears digs in a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mears steps inside and lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents body.  Mears ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Hill pushes his forearm into Mears's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Hill to stop fouling.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Hill's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Hill's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Hill's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
