Ubanwa Dawo vs Alastair Mbarire

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kisumu promoted show at Kisumu Jepleting, Kisumu,  taking place on 24/05/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Kenya Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on KTV, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Ubanwa Dawo (10(7) - 0) who hails from Ruiru, Kenya and Alastair Mbarire(8 - 4) from Nairobi, Kenya.  Both Dawo and Mbarire weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Alen Mwamzandi, and the three ringside judges are Peter Kirui, Udenwa Lalang and Paul Babla.  

Round 1: 

Dawo closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Dawo gets on the inside and digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  Dawo ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Dawo pushes his forearm into Mbarire's face.  The ref breaks Dawo's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Dawo closes the distance and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  Dawo holds on to his opponent.  Dawo uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Mbarire behind the head. The referee warns Dawo and breaks the clinch.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mbarire's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Mbarire's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Mbarire's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Dawo is looking to close the distance and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents ribs.

Dawo steps inside.  Dawo is looking to force the stoppage!  Dawo lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head, KNOCKING MBARIRE DOWN!  The count reaches 10, but Mbarire is unable to get up!  The winner by KO is Dawo!
