Oscar Hunua vs Paul Tully

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Vodafone Event Centre, Auckland,  taking place on 14/06/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TV One, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Oscar Toa Hunua (16(12) - 0) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Paul Tully(12(7) - 2) from Lonueuil, Canada.  Both Hunua and Tully weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Dale Mostyn, and the three ringside judges are Henry Edmonston, Aaron Glendinning and Hani Rarere.  

Round 1: 

Hunua gets on the inside.  Tully quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Tully throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Tully sidesteps to the left of his opponent and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Hunua steps inside.  Tully attempts to land a right hook, but Hunua parries the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Tully lands a stinging left hook.  
Tully pivots from in front of his opponent.  Tully lands a cross.  Tully attempts to land a cross, but Hunua sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Hunua digs in a stinging left hook to Tully's ribs.  
Hunua lands a firm left hook.  
Hunua lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Tully lands a cross, right hook and a cross to his opponents head.  
Hunua steps inside and lands a right hook, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.  
Tully pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a jab to the body, a jab to the head and a cross to the body.  
Hunua closes the distance and is on target with a right hook.  
Hunua lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Hunua steps inside.  Tully digs in a left hook to Hunua's body.  
Hunua lands a left hook.  
Tully circles his opponent with a low guard, waiting for his opponent to attack.  Hunua is on target with a stinging left hook.  
Tully lands a left hook followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Hunua closes the distance and drives a left hook into Tully's ribs.  
Hunua connects with a sharp right hook.  
Tully tries to keep the action at long range.  Hunua throws a jab, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Hunua advances into close range.  Tully pivots to the side of his opponent and digs in a right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  
Hunua advances into close range.  Hunua sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Tully lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  As Hunua tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Tully dabs at his face checking for damage.  Tully has been damaged by the clash of heads.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.  
Hunua connects with a solid left hook.  
Hunua manouvers Tully into a corner.  Tully throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Tully attempts to land a jab, but Hunua slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents body.

Tully pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a cross.  
Tully lands a spiteful jab.  Tully tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Hunua is looking to close the distance.  Tully throws a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging right hook.  
Tully throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Hunua tries to land a jab, but Tully sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Tully attempts to land a left hook, but Hunua blocks the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Tully feints a right hook, and then throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging right uppercut.

Hunua DETONATES a SAVAGE cross on his opponents face.  IT LOOKS LIKE TULLY WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Hunua gets on the inside.  Hunua stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Hunua lands two straights followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head, AND TULLY IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 5.  Tully now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Tully lands a left uppercut.  
Hunua is looking to close the distance.  Tully connects with a firm left hook.  
Hunua hits home with a firm right hook.  
Hunua is looking to close the distance and tries to land a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a firm left hook.  
Tully lands with a ramrod jab.  
Hunua steps inside and is on target with a solid right uppercut.  
Tully stalks forward with a low guard, trying to draw a lead from his opponent.  Hunua lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Hunua closes the distance and tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Tully lands a jab to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Tully is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  Tully throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Hunua lands a FEROCIOUS cross.  IT LOOKS LIKE TULLY WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Tully almost instantly gets his legs back. 
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Hunua's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Tully throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a big cross.  IT LOOKS LIKE TULLY WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Tully quickly recovers. 
Hunua steps inside and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head, AND KNOCKS TULLY DOWN!  He tries to rise but his legs dont respond...the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Hunua!
