Dave Macklem vs Fionn McGuire

Boxing Daily Report from the Cestrian promotions promoted show at Neptune Sports Center, Cork,  taking place on 13/07/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Dave Macklem (6 - 3 - 1) who hails from Dublin, Ireland and Fionn McGuire(6 - 10 - 1) from Limerick, Ireland.  Macklem weighed in at 174 pounds and 9 ounces, while McGuire weighed in at 175 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Conor McCrory, and the three ringside judges are Kieran Mulloy, Sam Brody and Conor McCrory.  

Round 1: 

Macklem hits home with a left hook.  
Macklem quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  McGuire connects with a cross.  
McGuire is looking to close the distance.  Macklem lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
McGuire gets on the inside.  Macklem sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  McGuire drives a right hook into Macklem's body.

McGuire throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Macklem time to recover.

McGuire forces Macklem to back into the ropes.  Macklem lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
McGuire is looking to close the distance.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as McGuire dabs at his face checking for damage.
