Taro Kobe vs Keiichi Kojima

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo,  taking place on 31/05/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TBS, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Taro Kobe (6 - 0) who hails from Hiroshima, Japan and Keiichi Kojima(6 - 6 - 1) from Fukuoka, Japan.  Both Kobe and Kojima weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Hisao Yamane, and the three ringside judges are Dai Ishikawa, Hideki Ishibashi and Eiji Mizuno.  

Round 1: 

Kobe is looking to close the distance.  Kobe pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Kojima is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Kobe lowers his guard, attempting to draw a lead.  Kojima attempts to land an overhand right, but Kobe blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Kobe closes the distance.  Kobe pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Kobe steps inside.  Kobe pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Kobe pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Kobe sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Kobe lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Kojima lands a stiff jab.  
Kobe drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Kobe digs in a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Kojima connects with a cross.  
Kobe is looking to keep the action on the outside and hits the target with a solid jab.  
Kobe feints a jab, tricking Kojima into throwing a right hook counter.  Kobe avoids the shot and counters with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Kobe closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Kobe steps inside.  Kobe quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Kobe retreats back to the ropes, and waits for his opponent to attack.  Kojima accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Kobe.  Kojima lands a right hook.  
Kojima pivots to the left of his opponent.  Kobe snaps his opponents head back with a spiteful jab.  
Kobe closes the distance.  Kojima pivots to the left of his opponent.  Kobe hits home with a left hook.  
Kobe digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Kobe dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Kojima's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Kojima's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
