Connor Laird vs Fraser Rosato

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Tennessee promoted show at Mike Yi Gym, Memphis,  taking place on 18/06/2024:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Connor Laird (4 - 0) who hails from Kingston, Jamaica and Fraser Rosato(0 - 5) from New York City, USA.  Laird weighed in at 200 pounds, while Rosato weighed in at 199 pounds and 7 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Robert Davidson, and the three ringside judges are Leighton Parry, John Cranston and Kris Breck.  

Round 1: 

Laird connects with a cross.  
Laird steps inside.  Rosato lands a left hook.  
Laird pivots to the side of his opponent and hits home with a left uppercut.  
Rosato throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Rosato is on target with a cross.  
Rosato tries to keep the action at long range.  Laird hits home with a ramrod jab.  
Laird gets on the inside.  Laird pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a right uppercut.  
Laird is looking to close the distance.  Laird backs onto the ropes...he is waving his opponent in!  Rosato tries to tag Laird on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
Rosato sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Laird lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Laird lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Laird closes the distance.  Rosato pivots to the left of his opponent.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Laird.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
Rosato pivots to the right of his opponent.  Laird lands with a ramrod jab.  
Laird steps inside and digs in a sharp right hook to Rosato's body.  
Rosato tries to keep the action at long range.  Laird lands a stinging jab.  
Laird closes the distance.  Rosato pivots to the right of his opponent and hits home with a left uppercut.  
Rosato attempts to land a cross, but Laird blocks the shot and counters with a stinging right hook.  
Laird closes the distance and is on target with a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rosato's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Rosato's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Rosato's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
