Zelipe Virgen vs Stuart Abernethy

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Maison de la culture, Gaineau,  taking place on 15/06/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Zelipe Virgen (4(3) - 0) who hails from Trujillo, Peru and Stuart Abernethy(1 - 3) from Edmonton, Canada.  Both Virgen and Abernethy weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Paris Clarin, and the three ringside judges are Bruce Hathorne, Michael Oliver and James Dunlap.  

Round 1: 

Abernethy is on target with a right hook.  
Virgen tries to keep the action at long range and lands a jab, overhand left and a jab to his opponents head.  
Virgen contemptuously drops his hands, trying to provoke his opponent.  Abernethy tries to land a right hook, but Virgen slips the shot and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Virgen steps away from his opponent.  Virgen feints a jab, and then connects with a cross.  
Virgen feints a left, and then hits home with a solid cross.  
Virgen lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Virgen lands a jab to the body, a jab to the head and a cross to the head.  
Virgen lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Virgen finds the target with a ramrod jab.  
Virgen quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He then lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Virgen tries to land a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Virgen lands a jab to the body, a jab to the head and an overhand right to the head.  
Virgen lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Abernethy hits home with a left uppercut.  
Abernethy is looking to close the distance.  Virgen lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Virgen lands a firm overhand left.  
Virgen lands a sharp jab.  
Abernethy advances into close range.  Virgen pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Virgen steps away from his opponent and hits home with a hard jab.  
Virgen lands a cross followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Abernethy is looking to close the distance.  Virgen pivots to the right of his opponent.  Abernethy throws a right uppercut, but Virgen clinches his opponent.  Virgen pushes his forearm into Abernethy's face.  The ref breaks Virgen's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Virgen pivots to the side of his opponent.  Abernethy attempts to land a left hook, but Virgen sidesteps and counters with a hurtful right hook.  ABERNETHY IS HURT!  Abernethy almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Abernethy walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Virgen lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Virgen steps to the outside and tries to land a jab, but Abernethy slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Virgen feints a cross, and then lands a spiteful jab.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Abernethy's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Abernethy's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.

Abernethy gets on the inside.  Virgen lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Virgen feints a cross, and then finds the target with a jab.  
Virgen tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Virgen connects with a solid cross.  
Virgen lands a cross, jab and an overhand left to his opponents head.  
Virgen feints a left hook, and then lands with a ramrod jab.  
Virgen switches the action to the outside and lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head.  He then lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Abernethy is looking to close the distance and walks his opponent into a corner.  Virgen lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Virgen lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Virgen connects with a stinging left hook.  
Virgen steps away from his opponent and lands a solid cross.

Abernethy closes the distance.  Virgen pivots to the side of his opponent.  Abernethy throws a right uppercut, but Virgen ties up his opponent.  Virgen is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Virgen.  
Virgen steps to the outside and lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He then lands a double jab to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Virgen knows Abernethy is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Virgen lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head, AND DROPS ABERNETHY!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 5.  Abernethy now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Virgen is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Abernethy recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Virgen is looking to keep his distance.  Virgen sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Virgen lands a solid overhand left.

Virgen is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  Abernethy almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Virgen pivots to the right of his opponent and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Virgen feints a cross, and then connects with an overhand left.  
Abernethy advances into close range and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Virgen connects with a sharp right hook.  Virgen ties up his opponent.  Virgen leans on his opponent using all his weight. Virgen tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Abernethy's kidney. 
Virgen steps to the outside and lands a jab, overhand right and a cross to his opponents head, AND DROPS ABERNETHY!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  
Virgen sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Virgen drives a telling left hook into Abernethy's body.  ABERNETHY IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
Virgen lands a right uppercut, cross and a left hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a left hook, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents head.  The winner by KO is Virgen!
