Edmundo Espin vs Jair Cosme

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Puerto Rico-San Juan promoted show at Gig Baylon Gym, San Juan,  taking place on 28/06/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Puerto Rico-San Juan Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Edmundo Espin (9 - 7(1) - 1) who hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico and Jair Cosme(9 - 3) from San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Espin weighed in at 125 pounds and 14 ounces, while Cosme weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ulises Monforte, and the three ringside judges are Ricardo Montemayor, Desiderio Cuellar and Fausto Pinero.  

Round 1: 

Espin is on target with a cross.  
Cosme is looking to close the distance.  Cosme pivots to the side of his opponent.  Espin throws a left hook, but Cosme ties up his opponent.  Cosme leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. As they grapple, Espin pushes his forearm into Cosme's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.

Cosme tries to keep the action at long range.  Cosme feints a left hook, and then is on target with a jab to Espin's body.

Cosme wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Espin dabs at his face checking for damage.  Espin has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.
