Ovidio Mercedes vs Juan Cardinal

Boxing Daily Report from the Eghigian Promotions promoted show at Leonardo Camarena Gym, Medellin,  taking place on 16/07/2024:

Clearly Eghigian Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Colombia-Antioquia Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ovidio Mercedes (10 - 4 - 2) who hails from Medellin, Colombia and Juan Cardinal(2 - 8 - 2) from Medellin, Colombia.  Mercedes weighed in at 118 pounds, while Cardinal weighed in at 117 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Emilio Lucas, and the three ringside judges are Olindo Cabanilla, Emilio Lucas and Reyes Corchado.  

Round 1: 

Mercedes feints a left, and then lands a cross.  
Mercedes throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Cardinal advances into close range.  Mercedes lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.
