Matthew Griffith vs Sam Dobbie

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Canada-British Columbia promoted show at Surrey Erving, Surrey,  taking place on 25/07/2024:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Canada-British Columbia Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Matthew Griffith (6 - 6 - 4) who hails from Vancouver, Canada and Sam Dobbie(5 - 4 - 2) from Burnaby, Canada.  Griffith weighed in at 129 pounds And 8 ounces, while Dobbie weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Seth Kinnon, and the three ringside judges are John Hendren, Mark Jones and Zachary Kenna.  

Round 1: 

Dobbie is looking to close the distance.  Dobbie throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref ignores Griffith's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Dobbie is looking to close the distance.  Griffith pivots to the side of his opponent.  Griffith attempts to land a right hook, but Dobbie sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Dobbie steps inside.  Griffith quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Dobbie is on target with a left hook.  
Dobbie cuts off the ring, trapping Griffith in the corner.  Dobbie sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a right uppercut to Griffith's body.  
Griffith lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Griffith's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Dobbie's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.

Griffith quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  
Griffith steps to the outside.  Dobbie lands a cross.  
Dobbie throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Dobbie steps inside.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Dobbie.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Griffith's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
