Daniil Volkonsky vs Dimi Zlobin

Boxing Daily Report from the Sovietskii Box Promotions promoted show at Valeri Tetyukhin Gym, Irkutsk,  taking place on 19/07/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Daniil Volkonsky (8 - 0) who hails from Berezniki, Russia and Dimi Zlobin(8 - 9 - 1) from Ufa, Russia.  Both Volkonsky and Zlobin weighed in at 122 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Lazar Khugayev, and the three ringside judges are Marlen Chikalkin, Melor Kabanov and Valeri Andryunin.  

Round 1: 

Volkonsky steps inside and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Volkonsky lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  Volkonsky ties up his opponent.  Volkonsky pushes his forearm into Zlobin's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Volkonsky forces Zlobin to back into the ropes.  Volkonsky lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  Volkonsky clinches his opponent.  Volkonsky leans on his opponent using all his weight. As they grapple, Volkonsky pushes his forearm into Zlobin's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Volkonsky.  
Volkonsky feints a left hook, but Zlobin does not fall for it and lands with a left uppercut.  
Volkonsky closes the distance and connects with a right hook.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Zlobin dabs at his face checking for damage.

Volkonsky has been damaged by the clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
