Mel Kidd vs Michael Fylan

Boxing Daily Report from the RJM Boxing promoted show at RJM Gym, Cambridge,  taking place on 15/07/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mel Kidd (3 - 1) who hails from Sheffield, UK and Michael Fylan(4 - 8 - 2) from Derby, UK.  Kidd weighed in at 239 pounds and 3 ounces, while Fylan weighed in at 245 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Gordon MacIntyre, and the three ringside judges are Kian McGowan, Mick Salton and Sam Stalker.  

Round 1: 

Fylan lands a cross.  
Kidd finds the target with a jab.  
Kidd drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Kidd lands a stinging cross.  
Kidd lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Fylan closes the distance and walks Kidd down, trapping him in a corner.  Kidd lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.

Kidd pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Kidd hits home with a stinging right hook.  
Kidd advances into close range and manages to force Fylan into the red corner.  Kidd connects with a firm left hook.  
Kidd lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.

Fylan closes the distance.  Kidd goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Fylan to the neutral corner.  He warns Kidd to stop fouling or he'll lose a point.  
Kidd is looking to close the distance and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Kidd lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Kidd is on target with a left uppercut to his opponents body.

Kidd gets on the inside.  Kidd drives a solid left hook into Fylan's ribs.  As Kidd tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Fylan dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Kidd is on target with a left uppercut.  
Kidd connects with a left hook.  
Kidd lands a right hook to the head, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  Kidd clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Kidd pushes his forearm into Fylan's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Kidd.  
Fylan throws a left hook, but Kidd clinches his opponent.  Fylan pushes his forearm into Kidd's face.  The referee warns Fylan and breaks the clinch.  
Kidd wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Fylan dabs at his face checking for damage.

Kidd throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Fylan's complaints and signals for the action to continue.

Fylan connects with a right hook.  
Kidd lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Kidd drives a firm left hook into his opponents body.  
Kidd pivots to the side of his opponent and digs in a left hook to Fylan's liver.  
Kidd gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Kidd advances into close range.  Fylan throws a right uppercut, but Kidd ties up his opponent.  Fylan leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Kidd is on target with a cross.  
Kidd is looking desparately tired as he staggers back to his corner.  At the end of Round 6, lets listen in on the corners...Kidd's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to keep up the workrate.

Fylan closes the distance and is on target with a powerful right hook.  DOWN GOES KIDD!  HE IS STILL STRUGGLING TO HIS FEET AS THE COUNT REACHES 10!  The winner by KO is Fylan!
