Roman Cortinas vs Vidal Balasco

Boxing Daily Report from the Cestrian promotions promoted show at Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, Barcelona,  taking place on 31/07/2024:

Clearly Cestrian promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Roman Cortinas (6 - 0) who hails from Barcelona, Spain and Vidal Balasco(2 - 7(1) - 5) from Malaga, Spain.  Both Cortinas and Balasco weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Alejandro Lince, and the three ringside judges are Rodrigo Pacifico, Juan Can and Guillermo Algarin.  

Round 1: 

Cortinas is on target with a solid overhand left.  
Balasco steps inside and manouvers Cortinas onto the ropes.  Balasco quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Balasco tries to land a left uppercut, but Cortinas slips the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut.

Balasco sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Cortinas is on target with a cross.

Balasco gets on the inside.  Cortinas lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Balasco steps inside and manouvers Cortinas onto the ropes.  Balasco pivots to the right of his opponent.  Cortinas lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Cortinas tries to step out of his opponents range.  Cortinas feints a cross, and then lands a jab, overhand left and a jab to his opponents head.  
Cortinas switches the action to the outside.  Cortinas feints a left, and then lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Balasco advances into close range.  Cortinas pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Balasco walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Cortinas connects with a right hook.  As Cortinas tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Balasco dabs at his face checking for damage.  Balasco has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight damage to the nose.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Balasco's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Balasco's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.
