Boxing Daily Report from the Smoking Joe promoted show at Belasco Theatre, Los Angeles,  taking place on 27/08/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are John Blair (6(3) - 0) who hails from Oakland, USA and Dave Darby(7 - 7) from Baltimore, USA.  Blair weighed in at 140 pounds, while Darby weighed in at 139 pounds and 14 ounces.  
The referee tonight is John Stein, and the three ringside judges are Mike Sander, Fraser Lesley and Khalid Shaikh.

Blair steps to the outside and connects with a sharp overhand left.

Darby gets on the inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Blair is on target with a right hook.  Blair clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Blair pushes his forearm into Darby's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Blair about fouling.

Blair tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Darby behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Darby sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Darby tries to land a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Darby walks Blair down, trapping him on the ropes.  Blair lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.

Blair lands three consecutive jabs to his opponents head.

Blair feints a cross, but Darby is not fooled and is on target with a right uppercut.  
Darby steps inside and throws a left hook, but Blair clinches his opponent.  Blair leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Blair steps to the outside and lands with a spiteful jab.  
Blair lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  
Darby tries to land a left hook, but Blair slips the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Blair steps away from his opponent.  Darby attempts to land an overhand right, but Blair sidesteps and counters with a potent left hook.  DARBY IS HURT!  Darby almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Blair drives a firm right uppercut into his opponents body.  
Blair tries to step out of his opponents range.  Darby tries to land a jab, but Blair slips the shot and counters with a solid left hook.  
Darby steps inside.  Blair lands two consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Darby advances into close range.  Blair lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Blair throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.

Blair lands a right uppercut, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head, DROPPING DARBY TO THE CANVAS!  He tries to rise but his legs dont respond...the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Blair!
