Brin Erwin vs Nicholas Gowens

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Montreal's Gym, Montreal,  taking place on 17/08/2024:

Clearly Montreal's Top Gym have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Brin Erwin (1 - 0) who hails from Burnaby, Canada and Nicholas Gowens(0 - 0) from Hamilton, Canada.  Erwin weighed in at 112 pounds, while Gowens weighed in at 111 pounds and 6 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Bruce Hathorne, and the three ringside judges are Granger Hinault, Jasper Kopa and Aramis Duvauchelle.  

Round 1: 

Erwin connects with a firm cross.  
Gowens attempts to land a left hook, but Erwin slips the shot and counters with a solid left hook to Gowens's liver.  
Erwin feints a left hook, and then attempts to land a cross, but Gowens sidesteps and counters with a left hook.

Erwin pivots from in front of his opponent.  Erwin is on target with a right uppercut.  Erwin tries to land a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Erwin gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Erwin sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands two left hooks followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Erwin connects with a left hook.  
Erwin hits home with a right hook.  
Erwin gets on the inside and connects with a right hook.  
Erwin lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Gowens voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Erwin accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Gowens.  
Gowens is looking to keep his distance.  Erwin lands an overhand left followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Erwin advances into close range and lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.  Erwin holds on to his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Gowens's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Gowens's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.
