Beau Hugo vs Merrill Ortega

Boxing Daily Report from the Offei Promotions promoted show at Pikine Baudin, Pikine,  taking place on 31/08/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Senegal-Dakar Super Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on RTS, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Beau Hugo (5 - 4) who hails from Dakar, Senegal and Merrill Ortega(4 - 9 - 2) from Dakar, Senegal.  Both Hugo and Ortega weighed in at 115 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Geron Jacque, and the three ringside judges are Laurent Courtellemont, Thibaud Ly and Rush de Brosse.  

Round 1: 

Hugo gets on the inside and digs in a right hook to Ortega's body.  
Hugo closes the distance and forces Ortega to back into a neutral corner.  Hugo is on target with a right hook.

Hugo closes the distance and walks Ortega down, trapping him on the ropes.  Hugo lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Hugo is on target with a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Hugo connects with a right hook.  
Ortega sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Ortega attempts to land a jab, but Hugo sidesteps and counters with a cross.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Hugo has been damaged by that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
