Michael Makara vs Michael Martie

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Australia-Victoria promoted show at Melbourne Watkins, Melbourne,  taking place on 05/09/2024:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Michael Makara (5 - 0) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Michael Martie(2 - 4 - 2) from Sydney, Australia.  Both Makara and Martie weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Aleksandrov, and the three ringside judges are Billy Neish, Richard Lowe and Matthew Curto.  

Round 1: 

Martie is looking to close the distance.  Makara is on target with a right hook.  
Makara forces Martie to retreat into the corner.  Makara lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Martie's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Martie's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
