Ray Huggett vs Evgeni á Kostomarov

Boxing Daily Report from the RJM Boxing promoted show at Tirana Logoreci, Tirana,  taking place on 01/09/2024:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ray Huggett (6(1) - 1(1)) who hails from Sheffield, UK and Evgeni á Kostomarov(6 - 8(1) - 3) from Burgas, Bulgaria.  Both Huggett and Kostomarov weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Agim Gjikokaj, and the three ringside judges are Dameon Shundi, Dritan Prela and Bashkim Ahmeti.  

Round 1: 

Huggett sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a right uppercut.  
Kostomarov throws a right hook, but Huggett clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Huggett pushes his forearm into Kostomarov's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Huggett.  
Huggett gets on the inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him in the corner.  Huggett lands a right hook.  
Huggett advances into close range.  Huggett pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Huggett lands a stinging jab.  
Kostomarov gets on the inside.  Kostomarov throws a right hook, but Huggett ties up his opponent.  Huggett is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Huggett to stop fouling.  
Kostomarov steps inside.  Huggett hits home with a right hook.  
Huggett pivots from in front of his opponent and drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Huggett gets on the inside and tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Kostomarov connects with a left hook.  
Huggett advances into close range.  Huggett sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Huggett quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  
Huggett connects with a cross.  
Kostomarov sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Kostomarov throws a right hook, but Huggett holds on to his opponent.  Huggett tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Kostomarov behind the head. Kostomarov throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Huggett walks Kostomarov into the red corner.  Huggett lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Huggett lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Huggett gets on the inside and manouvers Kostomarov into the blue corner.  Huggett lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Kostomarov's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Kostomarov's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Huggett steps inside.  Huggett quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and connects with a right hook.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Kostomarov.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
Huggett sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Kostomarov hits home with a cross.  
Huggett gets on the inside and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Kostomarov is looking to close the distance.  Huggett lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Huggett pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.

Huggett steps back and leans on the ropes with his guard up.  Kostomarov accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Huggett.
