Stephen McTaggart vs Mel Lowry

Boxing Daily Report from the Ten Count Promotions promoted show at Hull City Hall, Hull,  taking place on 28/09/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Stephen McTaggart (8 - 0 - 1(NC)) who hails from Wolverhampton, UK and Mel Lowry(0 - 2 - 1) from Liverpool, UK.  McTaggart weighed in at 147 pounds, while Lowry weighed in at 146 pounds And 10 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Henry Paterson, and the three ringside judges are Ken McRoberts, Stephen Kennedy and Rob Apted.  

Round 1: 

McTaggart hits home with a left hook.  
McTaggart pivots to the right of his opponent and connects with a firm cross.  
McTaggart lands a straight 1 - 2.  
McTaggart is looking to close the distance.  McTaggart sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the head.  
McTaggart sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  As McTaggart tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Lowry dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Lowry throws a left hook, but McTaggart holds on to his opponent.  McTaggart leans on his opponent using all his weight. McTaggart tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Lowry behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures McTaggart about fouling.  
McTaggart walks Lowry onto the ropes.  McTaggart lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
McTaggart is looking to keep his distance and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Lowry tries to land a left hook, but McTaggart blocks the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut.  
Lowry closes the distance.  McTaggart is on target with a left uppercut.  McTaggart ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, McTaggart pushes his forearm into Lowry's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  As McTaggart tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Lowry dabs at his face checking for damage.  
McTaggart lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  McTaggart holds on to his opponent.  McTaggart tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Lowry behind the head. 
McTaggart switches the action to the outside.  McTaggart drops his guard, and stalks his opponent...he wants his opponent to throw a shot.  Lowry throws a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
McTaggart lands a hard jab.  McTaggart throws an overhand right, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
McTaggart digs in a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
McTaggart steps inside.  McTaggart pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a solid left hook.  
McTaggart backs onto the ropes...he is waving his opponent in!  Lowry tries to tag McTaggart on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
McTaggart connects with a stinging left hook.  Lowry wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as McTaggart dabs at his face checking for damage.  McTaggart has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Lowry's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Lowry's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Lowry's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

McTaggart snaps his opponents head back with a ramrod jab.  
McTaggart advances into close range and lands a left hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  McTaggart ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, McTaggart pushes his forearm into Lowry's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.
