Neil Uren vs Rangiá Ruatara

Boxing Daily Report from the T5 Promotions promoted show at T5 Gym, North Shore,  taking place on 07/09/2024:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Neil Uren (0 - 0) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Rangiá Ruatara(2 - 5) from North Shore, New Zealand.  Both Uren and Ruatara weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Opi Ngaikiha, and the three ringside judges are Dale Mostyn, Robert Smillie and Jake Smith.  

Round 1: 

Uren advances into close range.  Ruatara throws a right hook, but Uren ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Uren pushes his forearm into Ruatara's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Ruatara sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Ruatara attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Uren's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Uren is on target with a right uppercut.  Uren holds on to his opponent.  Ruatara is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Uren hits home with a right hook.  
Uren gets on the inside and hits home with a sharp right hook.  
Uren hits home with a firm left uppercut.  
Ruatara steps inside.  Uren lands a right hook.  Uren holds on to his opponent.  Uren pushes his forearm into Ruatara's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Uren to stop fouling.  
Uren gets on the inside.  Uren drives a right hook into his opponents ribs.  As Ruatara tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Uren dabs at his face checking for damage.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Uren.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
Uren hits home with a right uppercut.  
Uren walks Ruatara down, trapping him in a corner.  Uren drives a right hook into Ruatara's body.  
Uren quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Ruatara connects with a cross.  
Uren is on target with a left uppercut.  
Uren closes the distance and is on target with a firm left hook to his opponents body.  
Uren connects with a stinging right hook.  
Uren hits home with a stinging right hook.  
Uren throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot.  Uren holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Ruatara pushes his forearm into Uren's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Ruatara steps inside.  Uren digs in a right hook to Ruatara's ribcage.  
Uren lands a left uppercut.  Uren holds on to his opponent.  Ruatara leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Uren uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Ruatara behind the head. Ruatara tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Uren behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Uren connects with a left uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Ruatara's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Ruatara's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Ruatara's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Uren pivots to the left of his opponent and drives a left uppercut into Ruatara's ribs.
