Xavion Cal vs Gethin McCardell

Boxing Daily Report from the Frank Smith’s Tea Boy Promotions promoted show at Alexandra Palace, London,  taking place on 02/12/2024:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Xavion Cal (4 - 0) who hails from Bahía Blanca, Argentina and Gethin McCardell(3 - 0) from London, UK.  Both Cal and McCardell weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Darryl Jones, and the three ringside judges are Gary Rheon, Bob Noon and Frank McCance.  

Round 1: 

Cal is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Cal steps inside and walks McCardell into a corner.  Cal lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Cal digs in a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Cal pivots to the side of his opponent.  Cal lands a right hook.  Cal ties up his opponent.  Cal is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Cal lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Cal throws a right hook, but the shot is blocked.  Cal holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Cal pushes his forearm into McCardell's face.  The referee warns Cal and breaks the clinch.  
Cal lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Cal clinches his opponent.  Cal uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits McCardell behind the head. 
Cal lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Cal lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Cal drives a left uppercut into McCardell's body.  
McCardell throws a right hook, but Cal clinches his opponent.  Cal uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on McCardell's kidney. The referee warns Cal and breaks the clinch.

Cal is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Cal hits home with a left hook.  
Cal lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McCardell's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  McCardell's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  McCardell's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  McCardell's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.
