Xeres Botero vs Orlando Rubio

Boxing Daily Report from the Rattlesnake Promotions promoted show at Fonde Recreation Center, Houston,  taking place on 23/11/2024:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Xeres Botero (7(3) - 0 - 1) who hails from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and Orlando Rubio(1 - 5) from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.  Both Botero and Rubio weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Arthur Kinna, and the three ringside judges are Andy Saenz, Corey Barnes and Noah Fergusson.  

Round 1: 

Botero closes the distance and throws a left uppercut, but his opponent steps away from the shot.  Botero holds on to his opponent.  Rubio is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Botero's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Botero lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Rubio attempts to land a left hook, but Botero sidesteps and counters with a cross.

Botero steps inside.  Rubio throws a right hook, but Botero holds on to his opponent.  Rubio leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Rubio pushes his forearm into Botero's face.  The ref breaks Botero's hold and signals for the fight to continue.
