Xeres Botero vs William Monahan

Boxing Daily Report from the Rattlesnake Promotions promoted show at Palladium Ballroom, Dallas,  taking place on 04/01/2025:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Xeres Botero (8(3) - 0 - 1) who hails from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and William Monahan(4 - 5 - 1) from Milwaukee, USA.  Both Botero and Monahan weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Floyd Celestino, and the three ringside judges are Euan Bellis, Rob Greenshields and Mark Evans.  

Round 1: 

Botero quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Monahan is on target with a right uppercut.  
Botero advances into close range and connects with a firm left uppercut.  
Monahan hits home with a cross.  
Botero advances into close range.  Botero hits home with a sharp right uppercut.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Monahan dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Botero advances into close range and drives a firm right hook into his opponents body.  Botero holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Monahan pushes his forearm into Botero's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Monahan sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Monahan attempts to land a left uppercut, but Botero sidesteps and counters with a firm right hook.  
The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Botero dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Botero lands a left hook to the body, a left uppercut to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Botero lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  Botero ties up his opponent.  Botero is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Botero closes the distance and lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Monahan tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp right hook to Monahan's body.  
Botero steps inside and lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.

Botero gets on the inside and lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the body and a right uppercut to the head.  Botero holds on to his opponent.  Botero is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Botero to stop fouling.

Monahan is looking to close the distance.  Botero pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.

Monahan throws a left hook, but Botero holds on to his opponent.  Monahan pushes his forearm into Botero's face.  The referee warns Monahan and breaks the clinch.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Monahan's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Monahan's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Frustration is starting to boil over for Monahan now.    He throws a hook, and catches Botero low!  The ref takes no action over the foul, despite complaints from Botero.  
Botero lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Botero lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Monahan.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.  
Botero sidesteps to the right of his opponent and connects with a left uppercut.  
Botero walks Monahan into the corner.  Botero lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.
