Brin Erwin vs Joe Hobbs

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Montreal's Gym, Montreal,  taking place on 11/01/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Brin Erwin (4 - 0) who hails from Burnaby, Canada and Joe Hobbs(0 - 1 - 1) from Edmonton, Canada.  Both Erwin and Hobbs weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Laurent Marceau, and the three ringside judges are Gerard Segalen, Nicholas Prior and Stephen Morton.  

Round 1: 

Erwin tries to land a right hook, but Hobbs sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Erwin advances into close range and lands a right hook to the body followed by two right uppercut's to the head.

Erwin forces Hobbs to back into a neutral corner.  Erwin throws a right uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot.  Erwin holds on to his opponent.  Erwin pushes his forearm into Hobbs's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Hobbs's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Hobbs's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Hobbs's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
