Karl Laidlaw vs Verity Oliphant

Boxing Daily Report from the Big Bang Promotions promoted show at National Stadium, Dublin,  taking place on 24/01/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Western Europe Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on RET One, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Karl Laidlaw (15(11) - 2(2)) who hails from Galway, Ireland and Verity Oliphant(13 - 2(1)) from Brussels, Belgium.  Both Laidlaw and Oliphant weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Nathan Rafferty, and the three ringside judges are Charlie Brisbane, Eoin McCadden and Lee Beirne.  

Round 1: 

Laidlaw tries to land a jab, but Oliphant sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Laidlaw steps to the outside and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He then lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Laidlaw switches the action to the outside and lands with a ramrod jab.  
Oliphant pivots to the right of his opponent and drives a left hook into Laidlaw's liver.  
Laidlaw tries to keep the action at long range and lands a spiteful jab.  
Oliphant advances into close range.  Laidlaw throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Laidlaw holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Laidlaw pushes his forearm into Oliphant's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Laidlaw to stop fouling.  
Laidlaw digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Laidlaw is looking to keep his distance and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He then lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Oliphant closes the distance and digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Laidlaw steps to the outside and lands a solid cross.  
Oliphant closes the distance and cuts off the ring, trapping Laidlaw on the ropes.  Oliphant pivots to the right of his opponent.  Oliphant digs in a left hook to his opponents ribs.  Oliphant tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Laidlaw tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a jab, cross and a jab to his opponents head.  
Oliphant pivots to the left of his opponent.  Oliphant finds the target with a jab.  Oliphant tries to land a jab, but Laidlaw slips the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut to Oliphant's body.  
Laidlaw steps away from his opponent.  Laidlaw contemptuously drops his hands, trying to provoke his opponent.  Oliphant lands a cross.  
Laidlaw steps away from his opponent and lands a jab to the head followed by a cross to the body.  He then lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  
Oliphant pivots to the right of his opponent and drives a left uppercut into Laidlaw's body.  
Laidlaw lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Oliphant advances into close range and forces Laidlaw to retreat onto the ropes.  Laidlaw is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.  Laidlaw lands a cross, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents head, AND DROPS OLIPHANT TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  Oliphant now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Oliphant is looking to close the distance.  Laidlaw lands a solid right uppercut.  
Oliphant walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Oliphant throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a firm left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Laidlaw's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Oliphant's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Oliphant's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Laidlaw steps to the outside and lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Oliphant recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Laidlaw tries to keep the action at long range and lands a jab, overhand right and a cross to his opponents head.  
Laidlaw lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Laidlaw lands a straight 1 - 2, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Oliphant recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Laidlaw finds the target with a spiteful jab.  
Laidlaw lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Laidlaw steps away from his opponent and finds the target with a stinging jab.  
Laidlaw steps to the outside.  Oliphant feints a left, and then lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Oliphant steps inside.  Laidlaw is on target with a weighty left hook to Oliphant's body.  OLIPHANT IS HURT!  Laidlaw ties up his opponent.  Laidlaw leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  Oliphant quickly recovers. 
Laidlaw lands with a stinging jab.  
Laidlaw waits at the mid-range with a lowered guard, waiting for his opponent to throw a punch.  Oliphant tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a firm cross.  
Oliphant closes the distance and forces Laidlaw to retreat onto the ropes.  Oliphant tries to land a left uppercut, but Laidlaw blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Oliphant gets on the inside.  Laidlaw is on target with a right hook to Oliphant's body.  Laidlaw ties up his opponent.  Oliphant is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Oliphant and breaks the clinch.  Laidlaw throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Laidlaw tries to keep the action at long range and hits home with a sharp overhand right.  
Laidlaw tries to land a cross, but Oliphant dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Laidlaw lands a jab.  
Oliphant steps inside and drives a left uppercut into his opponents ribs.

Laidlaw lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head, AND SENDS OLIPHANT TO THE CANVAS!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Laidlaw!
