Leon Corcoran vs Robert McBride

Boxing Daily Report from the Ace Boxing promoted show at Radisson Hotel, Glasgow,  taking place on 27/01/2025:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Celtic Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Eurosport UK, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Leon Corcoran (4 - 10 - 3) who hails from Cork, Ireland and Robert McBride(10 - 3) from Dublin, Ireland.  Both Corcoran and McBride weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Thomas Ryan, and the three ringside judges are Thomas Ryan, James Matthew and Bruce McBeth.  

Round 1: 

McBride is looking to close the distance and connects with a left hook.  McBride ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, McBride pushes his forearm into Corcoran's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures McBride about fouling.  
McBride lands a straight 1 - 2.  
McBride gets on the inside.  McBride pivots to the side of his opponent.  McBride hits home with a left hook.  McBride ties up his opponent.  McBride leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

McBride is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
McBride walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  McBride pivots to the side of his opponent and connects with a cross.  
McBride steps inside and lands a right uppercut to the head, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  
McBride forces Corcoran to retreat into the corner.  McBride hits home with a left hook.  
Corcoran throws a left hook, but McBride holds on to his opponent.  The referee breaks up the clinch and lectures McBride to stop holding.

Corcoran sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  McBride digs in a left uppercut to Corcoran's body.  Corcoran wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref steps in and separates the two fighters to check for damage.  Its not looking good!  The ref has ruled that the fight cannot continue due to the accidental damage.  As less than 4 rounds have been completed its going to be a no-contest!
